Über die NFDI4Biodiversity-Flexfunds

Mithilfe der Flexfunds, den flexiblen Anteilen im NFDI4Biodiversity-Budget, bieten wir den Partnereinrichtungen zusätzliche Beteiligungsmöglichkeiten im Arbeitsprogramm von NFDI4Biodiversity an. So können sie - auch zusammen mit weiteren Akteuren aus der Biodiversitätscommunity - kleinere Vorhaben zur Verbesserung des Forschungsdatenmanagements (

Sie möchten bestehende Services verbessern, innovative Lösungen für die Datenmobilisierung oder -dokumentation entwickeln, Schulungsmaterialien erstellen oder haben andere Ideen für Optimierungen, neue Ressourcen oder spannende Aktivitäten? Dann könnte es sich lohnen, sich auf eine Flexfunds-Finanzierung zu bewerben.

Förderfähige Aktivitäten umfassen zum Beispiel:

  • Entwicklung oder Optimierung von Services und Tools

With the help of Flexfunds, the flexible shares in the NFDI4Biodiversity budget, we offer partner institutions additional opportunities to participate in the NFDI4Biodiversity work programme. This enables them - also together with other stakeholders from the biodiversity community - to implement smaller projects to improve research data management (RDM) for biodiversity, ecology and environmental data.

Would you like to improve existing services, develop innovative solutions for data mobilisation or documentation, create training materials or have other ideas for optimisation, new resources or exciting activities? Then it might be worth applying for Flexfunds funding.

Eligible activities include, for example:

  • Data mobilization and standardization
  • Development or optimization of services and tools
  • Creation of documentation and training resources
  • Integration of data and service providers
  • Improvement of existing services (e.g. usability studies, documentation)
  • Mobilisation of existing datasets according to FAIR principles
  • Open Access publications
  • Seed funding for subcommunities
  • Exhibitions or conference participation
  • Data exhibits and training materials

  1. Any researcher affiliated with an NFDI4Biodiversity consortium member organization can apply.
  2. Applicants not affiliated with an NFDI4Biodiversity consortium member organization can apply if they cooperate with a member organization.

The applications submitted are assessed by a review board mandated by the Steering Commitee (SC), which is made up of expert community representatives. They draw up a ranking and recommendations, which the Steering Commitee decides on as part of the budget allocation for each calendar year for which it is responsible. Consortium partners receive approval as part of their budget allocation for the respective calendar year.
